In the Paint is an organizational initiative stemming from the Lakers 6-point Racial Equity Action Plan.
In partnership with the Lakers, Contributing Artists create works of art to be exhibited at the inaugural In the Paint art exhibition at Band of Vices. The net proceeds will benefit the Contributing Artists and support the growth and development of In the Paint initiatives.

I was invited by the Los Angeles Lakers to participate in an exhibition at the UCLA Training Facility where I will showcase three of my original artworks in 2024.
The Los Angeles Lakers players and staff will be in attendance along with a host of art collectors and celebrities.

As one of the In the Paint Grantees,
I received mentorship opportunities including artistic support and skill enhancement workshops throughout the year. I also received a $10,000 grant to elevate my artistic endeavors in 2021.

"Rodeo Queen Dreams" sold during the program. This artwork is a homage to Los Angeles, drawing inspiration from the Compton Cowboys through the cowgirl depiction. The incorporation of fabric in the piece is a tribute to my grandmother, a seamstress in LA for numerous years.

How did I receive the $10,000 grant? The Los Angeles Lakers didn't just send a check my way. Along with the other grantees, I was given two free tickets to attend the Los Angeles Lakers vs. the Philadelphia 76ers game on March 23rd, 2022. During halftime, the grantees were given their checks on the Crypto Arena court in front of 19,000 fans.
