Bath & Body Works unveiled a new collection for Black History Month in 2022 — and social media users had some serious opinions.
Wrapped in limited-edition packaging inspired by kente cloth, the line of soaps, perfumes, lotions, and candles sparked debate online about whether the company was indulging in cultural appropriation or truly highlighting the achievements of Black Americans.

For Juneteenth, I collaborated with Bath and Body Works to design artwork inspired by the holiday for their social media and email campaign. This initiative also provided an opportunity to demonstrate that Bath & Body Works geniunely seeks to support Black creatives for cultural celebrations.
To highlight the illustration, I shot video of the artwork being created and spoke about my thoughts about Juneteenth. "I wanted this piece to embody Black joy and show that Black people are able to find happiness despite a traumatic history of oppression. As the saying goes 'we are ancestors' wildest dreams,' so why not celebrate?"
